Provider Certification: Adult & Child CPSS
STEP 1: Review Requirements
Meet all required country/state criteria to provide mental health services in your area
Completion of an in-person or remote CPSS training conducted by a CETACertified™ trainer
Ongoing supervision by a CETACertified™ supervisor as required by your CETACertified™ trainer (frequency and duration of supervision varies) with at least 90% attendance
Completion of at least five CPSS cases in each element you are seeking certification (including at least two safety cases where follow-up was applied)
Weekly case documentation and reporting to your supervisor on elements completed, clinical notes, treatment flows, and client monitoring form administration and scoring with at least a 90% on-time completion rate
Completing the CPSS certification application and passing the CPSS certification knowledge test (see next step)
STEP 2: Complete the CETA Certification Application and Provider Knowledge Test
The application and knowledge test typically take about two hours to complete—one hour for the application portion and one hour (timed) for the knowledge test portion—so be sure to reserve plenty of time! A score of 75% or above is required to pass each test (you’ll receive your score immediately following completion), and you may retake each test up to three times within a two-week period. Candidates must identify their CETACertified™ trainer in their application to verify all supervision criteria have been met.
Once you complete your application, you will receive an email including instructions on how to take the appropriate knowledge test links for each CPSS element you are seeking certification for—completion of all knowledge tests is required for certification.
STEP 3: Certification!
We will review your application and knowledge test score(s) and contact you via email within five business days regarding your CPSS certification eligibility status. If all criteria are met, you will receive your certificate and instructions to maintain your certification via email. (You will also be notified via email if criteria are not met.)
After certification: If you become eligible to update your certificate (additional elements, supervision requirements, etc.) please do not complete a new application. Instead, email certifications@cetaglobal.org for assistance.
